So, Scared that ...

... they are willing to give up our freedoms.

Newt Gingrich at a freedom of speech dinner in New Hampshire.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich yesterday said the country will be forced to reexamine freedom of speech to meet the threat of terrorism.

Gingrich, speaking at a Manchester awards banquet, said a "different set of rules" may be needed to reduce terrorists' ability to use the Internet and free speech to recruit and get out their message.

"We need to get ahead of the curve before we actually lose a city, which I think could happen in the next decade," said Gingrich, a Republican who helped engineer the GOP's takeover of Congress in 1994.
During an event in the honor of freedom of speech in which he was giving an award, Newt Gingrich advocates destroying our freedoms.

Go to Russia or Tehran if you hate freedom this much. I have had it with Republicans who hate America, who hate our freedoms, who hate what this country stands for, and who think that the only way to save our freedoms from the terrorists is for us to destroy those freedoms first. Honestly, how do these scaredy-cat, quaking-in-their-boots, America-haters even dare call themselves patriotic Americans? They are terrified of their own shadow, these Republicans.
Indeed.

The law geek's respose:

Let 'em try.

There are few things the Supreme Court (conservative or not) defends more fiercely than free speech.

Not to mention that every ACLU lawyer in the nation probably saw that article. The other day in Con Law we read a case where the ACLU lawyers tracked legislation, and *moments* after the law passed, they filed their complaint at the courthouse.

Any "reexamination" will promptly be further "reexamined" by a Justice who will have none of it.

Agreed.

But, the nerve of Conservatives in one breath trying to expanded freedom across the world by starting wars and in the other breath trying to restricted freedom in America by setting different rules of speech for anyone they disagree with. They are shameless.
