Hillary Clinton Goes on the Attack

During a Campaign stop in Ohio with Democratic Governor Ted Strickland, Hillary Clinton unleashed one of her last ditch effort to stop Obama march towards the nomination.
Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday that a pair of mailings sent to voters by rival Barack Obama's campaign criticizing her health care plan and trade views are false, misleading and a betrayal of his pledge to practice a new style of politics.

"Shame on you, Barack Obama. It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public — that's what I expect from you," Clinton said angrily, waving the mailings in the air.

"Meet me in Ohio, and let's have a debate about your tactics," she added.
It’s going to get ugly. Senator Clinton is going to try to link the Democratic Senator of Illinois, Barack Obama, to Republican Karl Rove.
Enough about the speeches, and the big rallies, and then using tactics right out of Karl Rove's playbook. This is wrong and every Democrat should be outraged," Clinton said.
And to President George W. Bush.
Before speaking to reporters, Clinton sought to draw parallels to an untested Bush in 2000 and Obama.

“So, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,” Clinton said while her loyal ally, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, also tried to draw a contrast between Clinton and Obama by saying, “She just knows more. She knows more.” [..]

“Do you think people voting in 2000 knew what they were getting?” she said, referring to Bush’s first-term bid for the presidency as a governor of Texas. “People thought they were getting a compassionate conservative. It turned out he was neither. We’ve been living with the consequences of those mistakes.” [..]

He promised change as a compassionate conservative and the American people got shafted and we’re going to have to make up for it,” she said.

Without mentioning Obama’s name, Clinton contended her rival has sought to portray having experience as “a disadvantage” and something “that doesn’t count for much anymore.” But she said, if a person needs a serious operation, they don’t ask for a surgeon who’s never performed the procedure.
Let’s ask ourselves if Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush know what they were getting into in Iraq?

People, let’s get real. Senator Clinton went along with George W. Bush and the neoconservatives march toward war with Iraq not based on the facts on the ground, but on politics. She started to run for the general election way back in 2002. Hillary Clinton thought that no one would ever dare to stand between her and the Democratic nomination.

The politics of Triangulation at it best.

Barack Obama opposed Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush’s Iraq war not when the American people started to question the war, but from day one.
I don’t oppose all wars.

After September 11th, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this Administration’s pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.

I don’t oppose all wars. And I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.

What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income – to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.

That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.
Hillary Clinton the Democratic Senator of New York is the one who is using Karl Rove tactics. She can jump up and down trying to distract us with her smears, but we will not be fooled again. Unlike Senator Clinton with her 35 years of experience, Senator Obama has the judgment to lead and run a campaign from the bottom up not Mark Penn on down.

Remember what happened to Obama's republican opponent in his 2004 senate race? He had to withdraw after the Chicago Tribune published stories of a nothing sex scandal. Now we have McCain getting the same treatment from the New York Times. Is there a strategy out there by Obama's camp to get rid of the stong republican candidate and replace him by a weaker one that Obama can beat? Has anyone questioned David Axlerod's part in this?

I am posting this one more time, some people are not getting the significance.

Senator Hillary Clinton's healthcare plan: The Great American Rip-Off - Read entire, please.

The idea is that everyone will have to buy health insurance. It isn't healthcare, it's extortion. It isn't really a healthcare plan at all, it's an enormous giveaway to the big medical insurance companies that are backing her and have since 1993.

Say you take a product, anything, say, toothpaste. Make it a federal law that you must buy toothpaste. Then, don't put a cap on how much the manufacturers can charge for toothpaste. How much do you think toothpaste will cost? How good do you think that toothpaste will be?

We did the same thing in Michigan with No-Fault auto insurance, which Senator Clinton has compared her plan to. Our premiums went up catastrophically.

There is no healthcare in Hillary's plan.

Someone needs to say that. Just a bye for the insurance companies to charge whatever they want that qualifies as "health insurance" by federal standards. And if you don't pay it, the federal government will garnishee your wages and impose other fines and penalties. An easier analogy for most people is to imagine the lunchtime bully from grammar school is now supported by the principal and administration to whom he gives a cut. If you fight back and don't cough up your milk money, you will get suspended. You can imagine that the bully, assuming he isn't hopelessly stupid, is going to end up setting his sights a damn sight higher than milk money in real short order.

That's extortion.

Most Americans don't get that yet. You know who does?

Stockholders.

Please look at the following chart. It is the New York Stock Exchange Index of Healthcare Stocks. Open it in another window, so you can see what I am saying. You can drag your cursor over the chart to see the dates and the actions. It works even better if you have a calendar of the Democratic primaries.

That first downward spike? That is Senator Barack Obama winning in Iowa and Senator Clinton placing third. That peak right after it is Senator Clinton winning New Hampshire. That downward slide that follows it ends when Senator Obama won in South Carolina, then next plateau and spike are from Super Tuesday when the "smart money" thought Senator Clinton would win. The drop is when she didn't. The corner is momentarily turned with the Potomac primary and the stocks rise on the polls out of Texas and Ohio.

Now, observation is a wonderful power, but it is relevant only in hindsight.

But if Obama should lose in Wisconsin and the index goes up, you know. Take a look at that again.

When I wrote this, Wisconsin had not happened yet. He won. the index went down.

If you were looking for a smoking gun, this is it.

Hillary Clinton has a lot of nerve attacking the Obama campaign. Last time I checked..her campaign has been attacking Senator Obama for months..no experience, no accomplishments, plagirism..not to mention Bill Clinton's negative remarks. I wonder if "what goes around comes around" means anything to a lady who obviously needs to blame the short comings of her campaign on her opponent. Shame on you Hillary Clinton.

In the debates these issues surfaced, so why is this an issue now? Plus she has been super negative as well.

I think Hillary's campaign has faltered - with Obama catching her in both of these key states. even with a marginal win, she loses.

We think she needs to focus on her record. she voted for the war, her husband supported Nafta - and her health insurance is a requirement not an option.

She will not win vs McCain - but the wide support that Obama has garnered could. He didnt vote for the war - so this is a major difference. Time to hang it up Hillary...

John Edwards needs to come out and endorse Obama now or be left out of the winners spoils.

If he waits - and Obama wins, his endorsement will mean nothing. and then he is not needed in the administration.

if he selects Hillary, which is a dying campaign - again, he will be left outside.

BUT if he enters his endorsement now - then he can be perceived as helping Obama win out... and will be a hero and champion to the Obama campaign.

John Edwards - no guts, no glory!

I wish Barack Hussein Obama would be the candidate of Hope again and stop lying about Hillary Clinton's positions. Are the voters in Ohio and Texas going to wake up and see the phony Obama for what he is? I hope John McCain beats Barack Obama in a landslide. I am a Hillary supporter and I will never vote for the snake oil salesman Obama.

Barack Obama will be turning a lot of Democrats into Independents and Republicans. The Republcans are so smart, they're coming into the Democratic primary and voting for Obama to knock Hillary out of the race, and then they'll vote for McCain. Obama isn't popular for real, does he honestly think he is. It's a GOP strategy and it's working like a charm. Also, all the Hillary voters won't be too happy with the Obamamania, and some will stay home, others will write-in Hillary Clinton, and others will vote for McCain or Nader. Obama will have his black voters, and most live in states that are not in play in the general election. I'll be laughing my ass off when Obama loses in November. Ha! Ha! I'm actually starting to laugh now.

This is the last stand for Hillary, and she is doing everything but focusing on the issues at hand. People know that there will be some things that are left out in a mailer; however, she needs to re-focus on her campaign. This will be her last stand over the next two weeks. If she does not win in Texas or Ohio then it is over. She will be out of money and out of time. Obama is a long ranger and is doing things differently, is has not major supports and the people give him is money. It will be fun to watch Hilary lose and Obama run to victory on March 4th

Obama is turning off many Democrats with his pro-black rhetoric.

I am appalled that Hillary Clinton has the nerve to say that Obama is lying. I distinctly recall her discussing her healthplan in the debate this week and as was mentioned above, she said that everyone would be required to have health insurance and if need be they would take it out of people's paychecks. That came out of her own mouth and now she has the nerve to call his mailings lies?

Clearly she knows she is losing. Her tactics, her words, her actions are exactly what candidates who are losing engage in. Hillary says she has the experience and blah blah blah...what is your experience other than being a Senator (like Obama is). Your husband was the President? That says nothing about her.

Finally, I would add to the people who say that Obama only gives hope. From where I have been sitting, thats what politicians do anyways. They promise stuff that they can't do when they get into office. So Hillary and Obama are both making offers of things that won't happen but at least Obama is able to inspire us and make us feel hope. Without hope we have nothing.

Clinton (Bill) didn't throw his own mud into the race , calling Sen. Obama's ideas "a fairy tale"? Or how about "the change that you can Xerox" line from Sen. Clinton? That's okay? But Sen. Obama is running the dirty campaign? All of the Republican tactics have been used by her. But, I am surprised that his campaign would do this. Barack Obama is dangerous and no patriot. Look what his closest confidants think. His wife's comment that, for the first time in her adult life, she feels proud of America , ie., she has been ashamed to be an American up to the last few weeks? This is our future First Lady, ashamed to be an American? It is difficult to imagine that Michelle Obama would publicly twice make such a statement suggesting disdain for America unless she felt it comported with her husband’s views. Another America hater is Obama's minister, friend, and sounding board for more than two decades, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. On the Sunday following 9/11, Wright characterized the terrorist attacks as a consequence of violent American policies. Four years later, Wright suggested that the attacks were retribution for America’s racism. Wright has been a key supporter of Louis Farrakhan, and in December, honored the Nation of Islam leader for lifetime achievement, saying he “truly epitomize[s] greatness.”
Farrakhan has repeatedly made hate-filled statements targeting Jews, whites, America, and homosexuals.
Those who think two of the closest people to Obama could publicly make anti-America statements unless Obama himself felt that way, are fooling themselves. To date, Obama has proven himself to be nothing more than a great bag of wind,, rendering the statements of those around him even more important in illuminating his true character and agenda. During his Senate career, he skipped 17 percent of the votes and sponsored only one bill that became law. That bill was to promote “relief, security, and democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
Bereft of official accomplishments, Obama has distinguished himself mainly by being against measures that protect American security, such as finishing the mission in Iraq. If we were to leave Iraq quickly, as Obama vows he would do, it would become a launch pad for al-Qaida attacks on the U.S.
Obama avoided voting on extending the Protect America Act, thus putting America at risk when immediate interception of terrorist communications is required. Last August, Obama voted against a measure that would have allowed the U.S. to continue to monitor overseas conversations of terrorists like Osama bin Laden without first obtaining a warrant.
If his radical vote had prevailed, bin Laden would have been given the same rights as Americans. Obama is anti-US and no patriot. If he gets the nomination, this is one life-long Democrat who is voting for McCain- at least he loves and believes in America.

Look he could sell ice to an eskimo but, he IS lying.

The plagerism story didn't go far enough. Words, that wasn't the worst of it at ALL. That could be trivialized. But this was a big deal.

"Obama's (economic) plan. is the most shameless piece of potential plagiarism that I have ever seen. He basically took Clinton's words and Clinton's policies and called them his own. If I were a professor I'd give him an F and try to get him kicked out of school," said Kevin Hassett, Sen. John McCain's economic advisor and the Director of Economic Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute."

And HE Is lying about his own stance on NAFTA and hers.

Here are the FACTS for ONCE:

"In a memo released today from allies, the Obama campaign repeats a charge that's been 'widely criticized as bogus' about Hillary's position on NAFTA. From the memo:

As late as September 2006, Senator Clinton touted the President Clintons support for NAFTA.

And again:

AS LATE AS SEPTEMBER 2006: Hillary Said NAFTA Was A Victory For President Clinton, Would Lead To An Economic Improvement.

In fact, Hillary didn't say this in September 2006. The Obama campaign cites a Newsday article that asserts what Hillary "thinks" about NAFTA without any substantiation.

The Obama campaign then cites an article from 12 years ago that also doesn't quote Hillary and her book, where Hillary mentions NAFTA as something that passed through Congress in 1996. That's why the Politico called a piece of mail featuring the same claim "bogus" and noted the Obama campaign has failed to produce any evidence that she championed NAFTA.

The Obama campaign fails to mention that he is not calling for the repeal of NAFTA and believes "it's not realistic to expect to renegotiate NAFTA." [Crain's Chicago Business, 2/16/04]

Based on his positions in Illinois and the United States Senate, the National Journal concluded that Sen. Obama was "the most likely presidential candidate to support further trade liberalization." Sen. Obama opposed an amendment that would have prevented the weakening of laws that protect against unfair trade practices. (Hillary supported the amendment.) Sen. Obama also supports fast track authority."

And the worst of all on Health Care because that is the LIE that will hurt the most people. I have read both plans. Hers is cheaper and covers more people! How did he manage to take her health care plan and change it just enough to make it cost MORE and not cover everyone?? Experience matters here I suppose.

She will NOT "force" ANYONE to buy her plan. If you are happy with the plan you have then you can stay on it. If you cannot afford her plan it will be GEARED TO INCOME so if you only make a little you only pay a little and if you cannot afford it at all there will be SUBSIDIES for YOU. Now those are the facts.

Here is a number crunch on the two plans. I'm not voting "stupid" here I looked up every fact a while ago and wondered why the media went so soft on him at the cost of the American voter???

HILLARY'S HEALTHCARE PLAN:
ANNUAL COST - $124 MILLION
COVERAGE - 45 MILLION PEOPLE
COST PER NEWLY INSURED - $2,700

OBAMA'S HEALTHCARE PLAN:
ANNUAL COST - $102 MILLION (80% OF HILLARY'S COST)
COVERAGE - 23 MILLION (~50% OF WHAT HILLARY'S PLAN WOULD COVER)
COST PER NEWLY INSURED - $4,400

This man is really pulling dirty tricks and he never really answers for them. Not directly. Not fully. Just like his lie of omission on the Iraq vote. He said he wasn't there and he doesn't KNOW how he would have voted. He also said he was on the SAME PAGE AS GEORGE BUSH with regard to the war.

Why can't we get honest reporting??? SHE Has been called out on every tiny thing but, he has not had ANY really honest and open reporting done on these issues.

WAKE UP AMERICA....smooth talker is smooth enough to make you believe a bunch of hooey. We NEED a president who is capable and has proved it. Obama was called out because he wouldn't debate Keyes in 2004 either. This man doesn't like to be accountable without a script. He is not who he is presenting himself to be.

Media, take his halo off for once and do justice for the American voter.

I applaud Hillary Clinton for standing up to this for once. She will get criticized for it but, I"m glad to know she isn't staying silent about these dirty tricks anymore!!

This is a sign to me that Hilary is DONE. And she knows she's done. She knew she didn't gain one inch in that debate and her campaign machine was looking for ANYTHING to get back on the offensive. Obama has been saying the same thing about her supporting NAFTA and her mandates in her health insurance plan for weeks, if not months. She could have taken him to task on it a few days ago on television where he actually repeated these claims RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER but she didn't. Why is she suddenly trying this now? This is the kind of stuff that makes me want to turn away from politics. It reeks of desperation and is embarrassing that she thinks people are dumb enough to fall for this. Then again, these same people voted George Bush in office twice so maybe she feels they don't deserve respect.

I am totally with you about Obama being dangerous. All these Obama junkies are going to be shocked when moderate Democrats abandon Obama in the general election. I used to think that after Bush I would vote for anything or anyone with a (D) after their name, but Barack Obama proved me wrong. Just the arrogance of thinking you can run for president after 2 years in the Senate. It's like someone performing brain surgery after completing their first biology course at the local community college. But that's how cults work, use charisma to get people to do things that are not rational.

I am a person that, until recently, maintained an individual health insurance plan. I spent 8% of my income on it and my last 'wellness' Doctor appointment was covered at 38 cents. My dental insurance was more and covered less b/c of any reason that the explanation of benefits could come up with. What's more, when I complained it became apparent that there was nothing that I could do about it - they had lots of reasons and I worked my way up the chain through their cs.

I cannot afford to pay monthly for no benefits. I dropped my insurance. Creating a mandate for me to carry that lack of coverage is a proposal that makes me sick. I don't want to be punished because I choose not to pay into BCBS profit margin. A mandate would not be helpful until the inurance companies are held accountable for their actions and the system is fixed.

Hillary Clinton has been attacking Barack Obama's plan because he will not garnish my wages if I choose not to pay into a system that has no benefit to me. Who cares how many people are covered if they are forced into a system that is front loaded against them? Obama suggests bringing down prices and reforming the system. I would reinsure myself if I could get a benefit from the insurance and that's what his plan is designed to do.

Thanks for listening.

CNN should be criticizing Billary and telling her that she is the destructive force in the Democratic party, just quit and back Barack already, it's clear the game is over for you. No one wants the baggage of the Billary era back in the white house again.

Oh right, the Ron Paul created "Larry Sinclair" story.

This clown claims he took a limo from Duluth, Minn to all the way to Chicago for his "nephew's graduation. The same graduation he didn't remember the time or date. In fact, he got the schedule of the graduation schedule of the school wrong. He doesn't remember the name, time, circumstances or atmosphere of the club he supposedly met Senator Obama.

Plus, there are no witnesses who can prove his story, receipts of his travels, no nephew has come forward, no school record of the nephew from the school. On top of that, his credibility is very low on the truth scale.

"Larry Sinclair" is a fake.

Anybody could create a lawsuit only to get it thrown out with no consequences.

Ruining a reputation is easy. Even if it's a delusional lie.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much. Bill Clinton signed NAFTA into law, after the treaty was essentially constructed during the GHW Bush era.

Is she saying we're supposed to credit her experience in the White House while she was there, but look the other way while NAFTA was passed while she was there?

I don't think she can have it both ways.

Both she and Bill are neck deep in the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations), long reviled as the creators of the "New World Order", and the people who push every kind of free trade against American sovereignty.

I'll tell you what the Michelle Obama "For the first time in my adult life I'm proud of my country" comment was really about. Michelle obama grew up in a racist country as we all did, a country that still remains racist. She was shocked that her husband was winning in states with little or close to no African-American population. She was shocked that whites weren't at racist as she thought, like her husband actually has a shot at the presidency, unlike Jesse Jackson, Shirley Chisholm, Al Sharpton and Carol Moseley-Braun. Of course Obama will do well in a Democratic primary... just wait until the general election... the "Bradley Effect" will sweep across the nation and he will carry 10 states if he's lucky.

Its Ironic that Hillary wants to take credit and promote herself as a champion for all good accomplished during Clinton era, but no blame for any wrongs. This is blatant "Hypocrisy".

My 12 year old nephew said something that resonated with me immensely and am sure will do so with other Americans. He said "are we living in a democratic America or a Monarchy where 2 families have ruled USA for 20 years". America today looks like old Europe to me.

JFK didnot have a boatloads of experince, but even till today we consider him as one of the best. Furthermore, the mere fact that both Hillary and McCain vehemently supported Iraq war, NAFTA tells me that experience does not automatically make one better qualified.

If experience was the only criteria, then there would have been no Google, no Microsoft, no Yahoo, no Facebook. All these companies started and flourished under people with little experience but big dreams and big HOPE.

To be a good president, you need to have the ability to inspire and connect with people. There will be hundreds of advisors who will be there to advise on economy, national security, foreign policy.

Is Obama perfect? No he is not. But I do believe that he is the best for America at this time. We want someone who may not embody change, per se, but is our best hope to be a catalyst for change.

To be honest, I think that both Senator obama and Senator Clinton bring a lot to the table in terms of who is a viable candidate.

He worked as a community organizer, a civil rights attorney and has held elected positions at the state and national level. That's useful, I think, because he knows the limitations and impact of implementing federal policy at the state level. He has not spent much time in Washington; however, many presidents did not serve in federal office as many came from state governorships.

Senator Clinton has done a wide variety of public service, served as a senator, worked in the private sector and had a unique view of the presidency as First Lady of the U.S. She convienently leaves out her stint on the board of Wal-Mart as the company is so widely known for its poor record regarding workers rights, union busting and health care policies (or lack thereof).

The reality is that their policies aren't that different from point- to point. Health care is one; he doesn't want to mandate it, and cites the problems of Massachusetts as a reason why this sounds good in theory, but in practicality doesn't work. The other is probably Iraq, which she voted for (he was in the Illinoi senate), but she now opposes.

For me, they're both pretty brilliant, well-educated people. So the race really comes down to character. I was a Hillary Clinton supporter, but I've become increasingly dismayed with the way she's run her campaign. I think that this outburst proves that she is unsuitable for the presidency. In what situation would this kind of anger be appropriate? Will she lash out at world leaders?

It is disappointing that the Obama campaign put out these mailers at all as I'd hope they'd be above this sort of thing. But they are no more misleading than mailers that the Clinton campaign has sent out in multiple states. It's also curious why she chose this time to suddenly get angry about them -- they mailers went out two weeks ago, and her own staffers were quoted talking about them as early as the 11th February.

Hillary hit the right tone at the debate. She's lost it again. I feel for her.

Hillary is one of the most remarkable women in the world. This is a wonderful tribute and we have had the opportunity to watch her excel and prepare herself thoroughly for the role of President of the United States.

Those of us who are really paying attention . . . take our hats off for her. She deserves the greatest respect and thanks for her dedication and belief in America and its people.

We have the most astounding freedoms that exist anywhere on the planet.

We are known to be the richest nation that ever existed on the surface of the earth.

But, we don’t take care of our poor people.
We don’t even take care of the children or others who cannot speak for themselves.

Hillary has been dedicated to the task of having our country embrace a Universal Healthcare Plan. She has a comprehensive and understandable plan developed. She has researched the way monies are spent in our current system and has identified ways to effectively divert the inappropriate and inefficient spending into a program that will fund itself. It makes sense.

I am an RN and have been for 20+ years. I have seen uninsured patients turned away from a hospital when they could not "pay in advance" for a non-urgent procedure. The economics of healthcare has changed in the direction of protecting insurance and pharmaceutical companies. Hillary has identified that this protection needs to be controlled for the purpose of protecting the patients and includes this language in her Universal Healthcare Plan.

Here is a link to the proposal on pdf that Hillary Clinton has on her website. It is a professionally written and thoughtful document.

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/feature/healthcareplan/americanhealthchoicesplan.pdf

I also reviewed the programs offered on the campaign website of Mr. Obama as well.

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/pdf/HealthCareFullPlan.pdf

Unfortunately, the document provided on the website by Mr. Obama does not utilize health care language and does not have a clearly delineated plan, but "sounds a lot like" the others. I do not appreciate the poorly prepared document. I find it difficult to understand how the inclusion of such statements as, "American's benefit from healthy environments .... Healthy environments include sidewalks, biking paths, walking trails, local grocery stores with fruits and vegetables..... Obama will increase funding to expand community based preventive interventions to help Americans make better choices to improve their health."

I am insulted to consider that Mr. Obama has included "sidewalks" and "grocery stores with fruits and vegetables" as part of his Universal Healthcare plan. No thank you.

Please consider that Hillary Clinton is informed and speaks from her extensive knowledge of this complex issue, and from her heart. She met with the American Nurses Association to discuss her plan and was rewarded by receiving their endorsement for President last month. Mr. Obama declined a meeting with the ANA.

I personally do not wish to see even one more of my neighbors turned away from receiving necessary healthcare services. Please consider the candidates offerings on this important topic.

Thank you.

If you live in the state of Illinois as I do then you know that Obama has done nothing to make our state any better. The education system and response to state disasters are still seriously lacking. We have towns that flooded in January still not getting any aid because the senators of IL haven't bothered to even visit and get the FEMA paperwork done correctly! If he can't do his job as a senator then what makes you think he can be president? Take a look at his voting record and then think again.

I hope John Edwards does endorse Hillary Clinton, but I don't think it will be enough to bring her to victory. I think the pods already took over and everyone is already programmed. It's pretty alarming when die hard Obama supporters can't say why they support the junior senator. Heck, they can't even point to some accomplishment of his. It's like the movie "Shallow Hal" and everyone is programmed to see past inexperience, lack of specifics, copy cat ideas, staged faintings, JFK RFK and MLK impersonations, use of other people's speeches, and an alarming undercurrent for racial solidarity.

I wish Clinton would just be honest. Both Health Care proposals mandate coverage. Obama's plan mandates for parents to cover children & Clintons mandates coverage for all. Both Clinton and Obama are pushing for health plans that will continue to enrich the insurance companies. The only sensible solution is the single-payer system.

Unfortunatley, this would be attacked from the right as "socialist medicine" and no presidential candidate has the guts to call for it (except for Kuncinich. And Corporate America makes sure he is not taken seriously)

In the absence of a real universal health plan, both Clinton and Obama argue over what color band-aid to use.

I just finished reading the Obama and Clinton health care proposals from their respective websites. It is so completely obvious that Hillary's plan MANDATES that all Americans purchase a health care plan. Unfortunately, she doesn't speak in the same vein as Obama about the government allowing for more competition amongst health care providers and the reimportation of safe drugs to the US from other countries such that Americans can fight back at the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies who nickel and dime Americans who need health care or take drugs. Give me a break - Hillary is angry that Barack has finally come after her completely nontransparent health care plan. Hillary's plan is all about the corporations; Barack's is all about health care. May Barack win the Democratic primary - otherwise, we are certain to have more of the last twenty years. No thank you!!!

People he took every one of her plans and co opted them as his own. He would not debate Keyes in 04 either. He has had to devalue her experience to justify this run.

But all I can say is if we end up with him as the nominee I will still fill her name in on the ballot. This whole thing is a big "fairytale" Bill was right. Obama makes it up as he goes along and takes other people's ideas.

The media is selling you a president just like they did with GWB, and just like they sell soda pop. We will ALL have to pay for that dearly.

And btw a mandate is not "forcing" when someone is gearing it to income and providing subsidy and saying you can stay on the plan you are on now if you like it. It's just like offering you a chance to go on social security or stay with a 401. Good god, how in depth do you have to get before people stop believing rhetoric.

It's a damned shame that this qualified and incredibly capable woman runs and she has to run against a male with a razor thin record who likely has no clue what he is doing when you see how he took her education plan, her health care plan, her economic plan and still can't answer for a thing he did except with empty denials.

He's the wrong choice right now ..he's just not ready at all but, go ahead and vote for him and maybe you will pay my mortgage when he screws up the country.

Challenge and question who you adore people. If you don't you are in for a big let down.

Let's think objectively for a moment. Without universal health care, the insurance companies can pick and choose who they will insure. If you have a national program, all people will be insured, regardless of health condition. And how can we promote preventive medicine without a universal health care program? Have you ever paid cash for a wellness visit? And that is if a doctor's office will accept cash if you do not have insurance? So some one becomes seriously ill, and that person does not have insurance. The taxpayer are now paying for the unisured. I'll bet the insurance companies have enough money stashed to pay for the world's health care needs! And remember, Barach has mandated parents with children to carry health insurance. Is it not the families who have the most difficult times keeping up with costs!!? And if universal health care works for the rest of world, why can it not work for us? As far as NAFTA is concern, it is so important to become global. One of the reasons companies leave this country is the cost of medical care. If all people are insured, costs can be controlled. After all, it is mandatory to insure our cars! I guess that is more important. NAFTA can work if we give tax incentives to companies to stay in America, including affordable health care. This is a tough battle Hillary has experience in and Barack does not want to deal with.

There is every possibility now that Clinton will sabotage Obama's white house win if she looses the nomination. With McCain in the white house, she can contest in 2012 again but with Obama, it is not possible until 2016. Hillary will be too old by then. The couple are known to make such cold calculations. I am sure Hillary doesn't care if the party gets destroyed in the process.

Dear Hillary,

I have supported your Husband's Presidency. I supported him through the Impeachment turmoil. I really hated Bush's distructive 8 years, and I have truly a great hope for the next President.

Dear Hillary,
at this point in time of Party Primary, your pressing on with the Democratic primary is only damaging the chances of Democratic Party in November. You are only helping McCain.

Maybe this is really what you are aiming at, But I really hope that this is not what you intend to do. That helping the Republican candidate in November by staying on in the Democratic Primary. I really suspect this intention of yours because this way you may be targeting the failure of Democratic Candidate chances in November so that you may run in 2012?? I really hope not. But IF YOU STAY ON AND CONTINUE THE CAMPAIGN INTO MARCH, this is the only thing I can think of as your ultimate goal!

Please get out now.

Wait a minute. Don't call me racist just because I'm not voting for Barack Obama. I am a minority and I know what racism feel like. I have a master's degree and I have been discriminated against in the workplace. Read my words, Barack Obama is not qualified to be president. Okay! Harold Ford Jr and Colin Powell are qualified. I never once voted for a Republican in my life and I'm sorry to say that I will have to if Barack Obama is the nominee. I hate the idea of voting Republican, but McCain is more qualified than Obama. Nobody can argue with that.

People like you should be in the GOP. Obama doesn't need your support. You seem to be very arrogant in suggesting that you have influence to move some people into GOP. Who cares? If you really think John McCain is going to win over Obama, then you have no idea what's going on in this country. May be you should watch John's speeches lately before you make up your mind.

We know that political campaigns can get ugly. And each one of us can become defensive with our canditate. The final words of the debate in Texas is what we need to ponder. Barack talked about how he overcame the youthful folly of drugs and alchohol, how he came from a single parent family and what a great campaign he is running. Hillary talked about how the American people motivated her. She has been working for the public since her youth. She is the one who offered the hand, and compliments to her opponent. Some can say she has the compassion, some can say she was more politically savvy, but one thing for sure, she was more Presidential. I say thank you Hillary for not giving up for the most important job in America. I want you to be our President.

Using street language to yell at your opponent and suggest that she will take care of him in OH isn't Presidential. That's gutter politics.

I think it's Obama who has polarized everyone! If he had waited to run as he should have and perhaps gone as vp, we would have all been on the same page and had a possible sixteen year run at the White House!! What kind of judgment is that??

As it is he has split the party along lines of gender, race, age and class!!

And this "story" about being from the south side of Chicago? People he is living in a one point six MILLION dollar home there. His kids go to private schools as did he. He has never been poor and saying the word "folks" over and over in speeches won't make it so.

It would have been smart for him to wait. And it sure would not have split this party up this way.

I'll never vote for him. If she is not the nominee I will write her name in on the ballot but, I will never vote for anyone who has to take someone else's plans as his own and can't be up front about it. Even McCain called him out on that one.

He got this far on Oprah and media bias and little else. "Signed, Sealed, Deliverd" Indeed. Bought and paid for. Brought to you by the good "folks" At G.E.

The biggest surprise is the tone of most comments posted here. What acrimony and nastiness...!
One thing becomes clear: Omama says one thing and does another....
This has clearly turned off Hillary supporters such as myself.
It also says something loud and clear: if Hillary is not the nominee Democrats will lose in Novemebr.
Obama does not stand a chance against McCain. First he will no longer benefit from Republicans and Independents who voted for him in Primaries. Now tey will have another option, if they do not like Hillary.
Then think of several hundred thousand Hillary voters who have been turned off by Obama and his supporters. Most will stay home, write Hillary's name on the ballot or just vote for McCain.
I certainly will. Obama is not ready to be President and would be a joke as Commander in Chief.
National Security is far too important to be in the hands of a rookie.
This is exactly why the DNC introduced Super delegates in 1982.
It was to prevent cult loving youthful voters to run away with the nomination and run into a brick wall in November.
HANG ON HILLARY!! YOU WILL BE NOMINATED IN THE END!!!! YOU ARE OUR BEST SHOT IN NOVEMBER!!!

I have read the comments from the RN and agree with her statement. I am also a RN. I have worked in hospitals and clinics for many years. People are so much sicker today with infections, diseases, mental health and trauma. If you are not insured, you will receive less or none when it comes to care. And so many of those who are uninsured, and treated in the hospitals, can not afford the medications and treatments to prevent them from returning to the ERs and calling ambulances. The taxpayers will continue to pick up the tab. A universal health care plan will direct this nation to preventive medicine which will increase the quality of life. Health education will become our nations priority and we will be able to say to the world we are a healthy and happy country. All nurses I challenge you to give Hillary a donation as I have done, and support her efforts for a healthier nation. Patient care is our life and this is our opportunity to really make a difference. Thank you.

Well Democrats should care, especially Democrats like myself who cares enough about politics to vote my conscience and vote for McCain. So, somebody said that Obama doesn't need my support, well I live in a swing state that McCain will carry, making him the first Republican to carry Minnesota since 1972. Just write people off and call them names instead of trying to pursuade them, what a uniting message. The Republican are pulling a fast one on you Obama disciples, and you politically-challenged fools will be singing a different tune.

Just make sure the illegal immigration issue is settled before setting up the Universal Health Care. The cost of universal health care will obviously be transferred to the taxpayers and will be expensive enough. Imagine all the illegals that will benefit from it. Imagine the EXTRA burden to the tax payers. The tax payer will ultimately have to pay, directly or indirectly.

We all know why business leave and go over seas. TAXES and PAYROLL EXPENSES.

All that is left is to run the citizens from this country with TAXES and LIVING EXPENSES.

Personally, I could live better in Mexico. HASTA!

Democrats remember that Bill Clinton was the first Democrat to win re-election since FDR. Stop bashing our great leader, because you all sound like Ken Starr Republicans. Clinton won twice because he wasn't on the Cythina McKinney/Ted Kennedy wing of the party. Democrats have lost 7 of the last 10 Presidential elections, and if Obama is the nominee, Democrats would have lost 8 of the last 11. This is political reality, not pro-Clinton rhetoric. I know thre is much excitement about Obama, but he's way out of his league. I challenge anyone to name one Southern state Obama wins in November. That's where all his black support is, and these people vote 90% Democratic anyway. I didn't see Al Gore or John Kerry carrying any of these states. Bill Clinton carried Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and West Virginia twice. He also carried Georgia in 1992 and Florida in 1996, so you can call him names all you want, but that's the type of Democrat that wins general elections. Let's keep this real.

Hillary is just upset because Obama isn't playing "the game" according to the Clintonian Rule book. Which, by the way, is also used by most politicians. His refusal to play like she wants, throws a wrench in her strategy and her ability to attack him without herself looking bad. If everyone does it, no one can point fingers. Hillary has now jumped on an opportunity to bite back, her way, because of an Obama article.

Obama's inexperience does actually show a difference in mentality and approach. NOT business as usual. The question: is the "freshness" of his approach more important than the experience? Does it really matter? One half to three quarters the country will never approve of what a sitting president does anyway. Experience or not, favored or not, he would be different. Bottom line, the individual is seldom great on their own, but the advisors that surround him make them great. So maybe it is better to ignore the rhetoric, and look deep into the candidate's ability to intelligently and "differently" surround themselves with good advisors. I would argue that Hillary, being so deeply entrenched in political life, would have the hardest time bringing about change.

I just thought of another movie that the Obama campaign reminds me of... "They Live" (1988). Maybe we can scramble the signal and wake all the Obamaphilics up. Here are the instructions: First, take off your rose-colored glasses. Next, get a library card and research the Obama record, it should only take one to two minutes. Finally, write to Oprah ant tell her to drop the contrived "ghetto accent".

Hello!!! If we import our pharmaceuticals, are we not putting more Americans out of work?? Not to mention safety. We are worried about lead based toys?!! What about our medicines. And here is a history lesson. We could get cheaper gas in the 70's if we self serviced our gas instead of full service. We put all our gas stations out of business, then the self service companies raised the gas prices. Oh my o my. Experience does count!!! Medicine, science research, pharmaceuticals is our chance to control and reduce poor health and keep America at work. It just amazes me that we talk about American jobs and in the same sentence, we want something cheaper from China!!

100% agree with you on this one! Why, Not legalize Marijuana, only have the hospitals crontrol prescription cost. You take away high cost and allow your patients to get the medicine cheaper. Co-pay will cover the cost with insurance up to $250.00 perscription drugs. So Why not allow the people get there medicine cheaper from these clubs whose charging high cost for medicine. Cheaper medicine will cut down health care insurance cost once the people get free government health-care.

Instead of comtemplating the other side's issues, it seems we have all decided that the anonymity of these blogs gives us the right to personally attack others without consequence. It's very disheartening to see fellow human beings getting ridiculed for personal beliefs. Wake up people, like it or not the Democratic party is being torn apart. The repubs are hard at work and we're letting them win.
